Important Information
- Students who do not complete their homework will have to complete their homework during recess on the day the homework is due.
- Scholars can receive a recess detention as a consequence for continual actions that distract from the learning environment during school. This is an opportunity for scholars to spend time reflecting on how to make good choices that will help them be successful here at Great Hearts. Parents will be notified before the detention is served.
- Please make sure your scholar has his or her own copy of Anne of Green Gables (ISBN 978-4424-9000-0) because we annotate in class. B&M scholars should have brought their books on Monday 26.
- Please have your scholar bring a locker shelf to help with organization of materials and to make for quicker visits.
- Please place a cover on all textbooks (Math and Biology) ASAP. These are required.
- Uniform infractions will be issued for scholars in violation of the GH uniform policy.

What's coming up?
Literature
Anne is settling in quite comfortable at Green Gables. Marilla states it best in Chapter 14 when she tells Matthew, “And there’s one thing certain, no house will ever be dull that she’s in.” Please continue to support your scholar reading and annotating each assigned chapter. This weekend they will read Chapters 17-18.MathWe started the week with a test on Fractions. Then, we started operations with fractions. We learned how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide fractions and mixed numbers.
Next week, we will start ratios and proportions. We will also do some problem-solving using proportions. Hopefully, we will have time to start scale drawing.

This week in History we used maps to analyze the effects of Rome’s expansion; we also compared and contrasted the rule of Julius Caesar and Augustus. We ended the week off starting a project about daily life in Rome. Students will be creating a COLORFUL brochure about what life was like in Ancient Rome.
Next week, we will revisit Christianity by analyzing the impact of Paul and persecution on the spread of the religion. We will also discuss Constantine and Christianity ultimately became the official religion of Rome. Students will be able to identify various famed Roman emperors and explain their impact on the history of Rome.
Science
What a great week in Science as scholars learned more about the Animal Kingdom. Your scholar even had the opportunity to take a virtual field trip to the Monterey Bay Aquarium and observe the famous brown stinging jellyfish!
Next week we will continue to learn more about the Phyla Cnidaria and the different groups of jellyfish. Our next test will be on December 3rd.
