What's coming up next week?

Literature/Poetry

This week scholars returned to the adventures of The tales of the Greek Heroes.  Please remind your child to be reading and making careful annotations that will contribute to our class discussions.  Ask your scholar to share summaries of Chapters 16 and 17 next week.

Grammar/Writing

This week we learned how to identify and diagram predicate verbs and Direct objects. Next week , we will learn about Predicate Nominatives.

This week we  began our lesson about Historical Narratives; we will continue to work through the writing process next week, which will lead to the development of a three paragraph summary.

Math

We delved into decimals this week. We learned how to write decimal numbers in words. We learned how to write them in expanded notation. We even learned how we can compare decimals. We will keep doing decimals next week. We will learn what happens when we multiply decimals by exponents of 10. We will learn how to add, subtract, and multiply decimals as well.

History

This week we completed our exploration into Judaism and Christianity. Next week will start our unit over Ancient Greece, focusing  on the impact of geography historical, the origins of Democracy, the rivalry between Athens and Sparta, and the impact of the Persian Wars.

Science

This week scholars created different hypothesis and learned more about the Scientific Method.  Next week, we will be studying the plant kingdom and will conclude the week with a Nature Journal entry on leaves.  All scholars need to have their Science book covered by Monday.  You can send a book cover with them or a paper bag that they can use to cover their book during study hall.
