What's coming up next week?

Literature/Poetry

Scholars enjoyed learning about the Prince who got caught up in a war: Lugalbanda.  It was a wonderful story filled with dynamic characters and virtue.  Next week, scholars will begin their new poem, Nothing Gold Can Stay by Robert Frost.  They will also return to Chapter 14 and 15 in the Tales of the Greek Heroes novel.

Grammar/Writing

Scholars worked on diagramming sentences with both adverbs and adjectives this week.  Next week, scholars will learn about certain parts of speech that act as grammatical bridges within a sentence.  Scholars continued to practice writing 2 level outlines this week in writing.  Next week, scholars will focus on making chronological narrations of past events.

Math

We finished equations and inequalities this week and started exponents and decimals. We did problems on order of operations involving exponents. We will continue doing decimals next week. We will learn place values. We will also learn how to compare decimal numbers.

History

This week, we continued our exploration of Mesopotamia and how Geography was so important to its development. We also discovered the origins of Judaism and the Geography of Ancient Israel.
Next week we will identify the cultural characteristics of Judaism, the origins and impact of Christianity. Students will have a History test Thursday, September 24th
